About
Modern Children is back :)
Modern Children is an indie band based in Hong Kong

Winter 2006, Chih (Guitar/ Bass) with great influence by indie-pop band Belle & Sebastian would like to form an indie-pop band, so he invited his twin brother Tony (Drum) to join in and advertised on an internet local band forum to find the rest of the members. The post did rebounds. Kenneth Tsang (Vocal/ Guitar/ Bass), who formed bands in Hong Kong, Japan, and Texas, and Jimmy Cheung (Guitar/ Bass) contacted Chih after seeing the post. The band was formed. Few weeks later, Kenneth introduced his college friend Sai-Ho (Violin/ Electronics), a solo Electronica musician and Audio-Visual artist (st-saiho.com), to the rest of the band members. In 2009, Sai-Ho released his debut solo album Weird Mind. He quitted Modern Children in order to concentrate more in his solo music career. The band kept its 4 piece line-up for around one year, until they met Lung Wei (Erhu/ Keyboard/ Bass). In January 2010, Modern Children played as the backing band for The Pancakes (http://www.thepancakes.com/) for her 10the anniversary concert, and they met Lung Wei who was also one of the players in the backing band. Lung Wei joint the band in April 2010. In September 2010, Winnie (Violin/ Vocal) featured the band in a show at Shodoshima (Japan), and she joined the band in December 2010. Hence, the current 6 piece lineup was formed.

“Colourful” is the word to describe Modern Children. They play in different music styles and always go on two extremes: indie pop and post rock. Their songs were filled with all kinds of sounds by using wide range of instruments, from guitars and bass to rainbow bells and erhu. Their positive music and passionate live performance have been bringing them to different stages in various countries, including Macau Flash 2008, NOTCH 2009 at GuangZhou, Baybeats 2010 at Singapore, Art Setouchi 2010 at Japan, Clockenflap 2010 and Fever Music Fest 2011 at ShangHai. In 2008, they had their first solo concert at Kubrick, HK.

In late 2011, Modern Children used an unusual way to release their album – iPhone/ Android App. It was probably the very first free App Album in the world, which contains 10 songs for free download. The band held their concert named “Come Come Com Sun Live 2012” at Hang Out on 14th January 2012. Physical copies of their debut album CD “Modern Children” was launched in the same date.

In Sept 2012, Modern Children released their single Dance With Me in The Future Sounds of Hong Kong Festival Concert.

After taking a break from Jan 2013 to Feb 2014, the band reunited, and they are recording their 2nd studio album now.

2012年1月14日樂隊於蒲吧舉行其名為「Come Come Come Sun Live 2012」之音樂會,並於同日發布樂隊首張同名實體大碟《Modern Children》CD。

The Future Sounds of Hong Kong Festival Concert 中演出,並於同日發布單曲Dance With Me。
